Why This Site Exists
Older printed directories remain useful, but they do not replace the separate records now kept by Forsyth County and North Carolina. The Tax Department and Register of Deeds hold property-related records. Election records have their own statutory access rules. The North Carolina Collection and State Archives preserve historical material. We organize the official search routes, office contacts, coverage clues, and access limits so a local record question can begin with the right custodian.
What This Reference Includes
The material is arranged around the detail already known, such as a street, a person’s name, a parcel, or a past address. It points to the custodian rather than presenting an unverified person profile.
- Searches by record angle: the street resource for address-keyed records, city directories for historical volumes, and the resident lookup for a one-person record trail
- Custodians and collections: tax, deeds, elections, the court clerk, vital-record routes, and the library’s North Carolina Collection
- Research methods: ways to read an address record, compare a name across dated sources, and follow a household over time
- Access boundaries: Chapter 132 public-records rules, restricted record categories, and the appropriate fallback when an index is unavailable online
Limits of This Reference
This is a privately operated reference site, not a Winston-Salem office, Forsyth County department, North Carolina agency, court, or library. The following limits apply:
- We cannot verify that a particular person currently resides in Winston-Salem
- We cannot obtain, certify, correct, or alter a custodian’s record for someone else
- We cannot place a person on, or remove a person from, a government roll or database
- We do not offer legal advice about records, rights, or disputes
- We cannot guarantee that every link, office detail, or coverage range remains current at all times
Only the custodian can confirm, certify, or correct its record. Information here is not for credit, employment, tenant, insurance, or another FCRA-regulated decision.
